Our Story

Europe is full of extraordinary places.

Libraries that shaped generations of thought. Museums that hold the highest expressions of human creativity. Historic halls, galleries and estates that carry memory, meaning and the quiet texture of time.

Yet, many of these spaces stand underused, struggle financially, while just beyond their doors, companies, creatives and organisations search for environments that inspire something beyond the ordinary.

Salon exists to bring them together. Just as the 19th century ‘salons’ once gathered artists, thinkers and visionaries in rooms filled with possibility, we believe today's cultural spaces can once again become catalysts for new ideas.

Our Mission

Salon operates at the intersection of culture and creation. The platform was initiated within EIT Culture & Creativity, part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body established by the European Union.

Within this network an idea started to emerge : a new bridge between Europe’s cultural institutions and the creative energy seeking a home: Salon, a curated marketplace.

We were born from the conviction that financial resilience and cultural mission does not need to be in tension. If thoughtfully designed, they can reinforce one another : by opening Europe's most storied spaces to curated, purposeful events, we help cultural institutions unlock new revenue without compromising what makes them irreplaceable. And we give organisations access to settings they may never have imagined they could book, Spaces that inspire.

Our approach aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including fostering sustainable economic growth and entrepreneurship, strengthening resilient infrastructure, safeguarding cultural heritage, and enabling effective partnerships between public institutions and private actors.

Rather than building new infrastructure, we focus on revitalising what already exists, helping Europe’s cultural spaces remain vibrant, accessible and relevant for generations to come. Salon is set out to be a new bridge between Europe’s cultural institutions and the creative energy seeking a home.

Our Team

The team behind Salon brings together two things that rarely meet: deep marketplace expertise and a genuine commitment to European culture.

Our core launching team have been part of the growth stories of some of the world's leading marketplace platforms — including Airbnb, Etsy and TicketSwap. We understand what it takes to build trusted ecosystems, earn the confidence of two very different communities, and create infrastructure that works at scale across borders.

We combine marketplace experience with the knowledge, network and values of some of Europe's foremost cultural institutions from EIT CC, because we believe the long-term resilience of Europe's cultural sector depends on exactly this kind of collaboration.

Our Spaces

We focus on places that carry meaning. Every space on Salon is individually selected. Every venue is verified. Every booking is built on a framework of trust, transparency and contractual clarity. Salon curates venues where centuries-old architecture can host product launches, fashion shows, conferences, intimate dinners and creative productions without losing an ounce of their integrity. Salon is not a venue directory. We are building the infrastructure for cultural space activation across Europe : one extraordinary event at a time.

Our Values

• Curation over volume. We would rather have fifty exceptional venues than five hundred average ones. Every space on Salon is there because it belongs.

• Trust by design. Both venues and organisers are verified before they transact. Every booking includes a digital rental agreement. Payments are protected. Nothing is left to chance.

• Cultural integrity first. We believe revenue and mission can coexist. Salon is designed so that hosting events strengthens cultural institutions — not dilutes them.

• Transparency always. Fees are disclosed upfront. Cancellation terms are clear before commitment. The contractual relationship between venue and organiser is direct and explicit. No ambiguity, no hidden mechanisms.
